After countless letters to Cedar-Sinai, and many renowned government officials, I came to a harsh reality. The fact of the matter is that this medical malpractice is in the past, and it became clear to me that many wanted it kept there. Others simply didn't care. The President, Senators, Congressman and even the Supervisors that oversee the County Health Department and Centers of Disease Control either didn't read my letters, or even worse, they read them but turned a blind eye to the issue. Some even sent my letter off to the CDC and the County. The response I got would make you sick. If you would like to see the letters they are in the Letters & Documents part of this website. They need to know that this tragedy existed and the remaining survivors are looking for answers. Time doesn't make everything better; if it did we wouldn't feel the repercussions today. Because of this, I have three goals that would help bring an end.

1

Because of the statute of limitations, which expired when I was 19 before I fully knew of the negligence and intentional tort that Cedars committed, I was not able to seek justice by legal remedies. Therefore, a formal and thorough investigation by the Justice Department into the actions of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the LA County Health Dept and Centers of Disease Control would bring answers to questions that have arisen over the last two decades.

2

Create a law or type of legislation that makes it mandatory for medical professional to immediately notify the parents of a minor child of any information they come into possession with that pertains to the child's health, welfare, and well-being. As of right now it is only a moral decision by the doctor to notify the patients, because of this tragedy it needs to be a law.

The safe passage of the Steve Grissom Relief Fund Bill to be made into an Act. The Steve Grissom Relief Fund Bill will give compassionate funds to people who received HIV blood through transfusions. In 1999 former president Bill Clinton signed a bill that gave $100,000 dollars to all hemophiliacs who received HIV blood, but no compensation was given to people who received HIV through blood transfusions. Unfortunately the Steve Grissom Relief Fund Bill was tossed into the insignificant stack of bills. This is discriminatory on its face to be so specific with the funds. ALL that received HIV blood transfusions should benefit from the Steve Grissom Relief Fund.
